If you are a golf lover, you might have a golf cart by your side. Maintaining the golf cart and keeping it in good shape is necessary if you want to enjoy a comfy ride around the golf court. A properly maintained golf cart will also be able to be used for theme parks, zoos, or commercial properties.

From inspecting the batteries to checking the air pressure in the tires, there are many things you can do to keep your golf cart properly maintained. For your ease, we have jotted down the top 4 essential tips that will help you keep your golf cart in good shape.

Charge Your Batteries When not in Use

The best thing about the golf cart is that you don’t need to fuel them up with petrol or diesel. They are battery-powered and prove much more economical as compared to other vehicles you use on a daily basis. However, there is one thing you need to do to save yourself more.

When you are not using the cart, make sure to plug in the batteries and charge them up before you start using them again. Following this habit will make you aware of the life of your golf cart batteries and help you access the cart whenever you need it.

Check the Water Level in the Batteries

The golf cart is not fuel-powered, which means you won’t have to schedule engine tune-ups on a regular basis. The only thing you will have to do is to check the water level in the cart batteries and make sure it doesn’t fall below the lead plates.

If you see that lead plates are not submerged in water, you will need to add some water until they are completely drowned. However, before adding the water, you will have to charge your batteries to full and then add distilled water.

Most people just use tap water for batteries, which is not good for long-term battery health. Usually, you will need to add water after a month or depending on your usage.

Fill up Your Tires with Air

Batteries are not the only thing you will have to look after if you are using a golf cart. After a long day at the court, the tires may be low on air and need filling up. So, it’s best to inspect the tires after every trip and check the air pressure in them.

If you notice that pressure is below the safe point, fill the tires up with air. By keeping your tires in check, you can make sure that the cart remains in good condition and rides smoothly when you are on track.

Inspect Your Brakes Regularly

Usually, you won’t drive the golf cart too fast, so the brakes are less likely to experience wear and tear as compared to other on-road vehicles. However, it is recommended to check your brakes regularly to prevent any potential problems. The brake inspection includes checking the cables, brake pads, and drums. Make sure to adjust them evenly, so they keep working correctly. If you don’t know how to do this yourself, you can consult a mechanic to keep them maintained.
