MBBS is an undergraduate course of 5 years and 6 months. It provides a professional degree to become a doctor, or surgeon who will diagnose diseases and conduct surgeries to cure human illnesses or disorders. Location of the college: Location is important as it helps to decide over the time management that a candidate needs to have. Very far colleges lead to the requirement of accommodation arrangements of a candidate. But nearby colleges are easy to access and also save time for utilization towards other work. Number of MBBS Seats: The number of Seats is important for a candidate to know as this will be helpful to analyze the chances of getting admission to a particular college. This also addresses the quality of the medical college. Based on the number of MBBS Seats, certain norms are specified over the faculties, facilities, and infrastructure by the National Medical Commission (NMC).  

For example, it is mandatory for the institution to have at least 300 Beds and an average patient flow of 300 per day to get approval for 150 MBBS Seats. Therefore based on this factor, it is said that MBBS Colleges having more than 250 MBBS Seats are good as they provide around more than 1300 beds and everyday visits of more than 2000 patients.

Number of PG Courses: After completing the MBBS Course, it is always suggested that the candidate should go for Post Graduate courses, and therefore it is necessary to be aware of the number of PG Courses that the college is providing. This also specifies the specialized departments that are there in the college. Students pursuing or passing PG Courses are called junior or senior interns for clinical practices under the senior doctors. 

The number of PG Courses also provides an additional factor for the college to rank among the top institutions in India. The Number of MCH/DM super speciality courses conducted by the medical college defines the number of PG courses. Internal Quota for PG Courses: Generally the Medical colleges which provide PG Courses also provide Internal Quota for PG Courses for those students who are from their affiliated colleges. This aids the students in easily getting a suitable PG Course for them in a familiar environment. 

For example, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and University College of Medical Sciences provide 50% internal PG Quota. Other Colleges like Armed Forces Medical Colleges, Aligarh Muslim University, JIPMER Puducherry, and Banaras Hindu University also provide the PG Quota.

Stipend during Internship: Stipend during Internship depends on the status of medical college. A ranking and established college will always provide a handsome stipend to its interns. Many candidates aspire to the Medical colleges that are under the Central Government because of their internship stipends.  The internship is done after 4.5 years of MBBS in a hospital in different departments. 

These stipends vary from state to state and college to college. For example, Delhi Medical colleges provide INR 23,500 per month, Rajasthan Medical Colleges provide INR 7000 per month, Karnataka colleges provide INR 30000 per month, Haryana Colleges provide INR 9000 per month, Bihar colleges INR 15,000 per month, Jharkhand colleges provides INR 17,900 per month, Madhya Pradesh Colleges provides INR 7000 per month, Kerala colleges provide INR 25,000 per month, Odisha Colleges provides INR 20,000 per month and so on.

Infrastructure and facilities: This defines the quality of resources that are available in a college.
